Opening Party at Kunstraum Heartspace - New born Art Community

On May 24, 2025, Kunstraum Heartspace opened its doors in Berlin with the exhibition “Where is your heart?”. Kunstraum Heartspace is a space where artists come together for group exhibitions, workshops, artist residencies, or to rent studio space. The opening party made it clear that not only a new physical venue had been born, but also a new creative community.

Located between Volkspark Friedrichshain and Answalderplatz in the Friedrichshain district, the opening was celebrated with an exhibition featuring around 50 visual artists and musical performances. Every contribution responded to the central theme of the heart. One notable piece came from Lena F. Naerger and her project “Hearts of Berlin.” Since 2022, she has been photographing all kinds of heart shapes across Berlin, her hometown, documenting places that have found a place in her heart. Another artist, Alexander Régent, presented a large-format painting that was painted on both the front and back. He wrote: “My heart is where it can create love.” I, Ágnes Molnár Árt, also participated in the exhibition. I contributed one of my earlier abstract works, accompanied by a short prose text. The project highlights the multiplicity of the heart as a metaphor for human identity.

An estimated 300 guests attended the opening celebration. Our community was overwhelmed by the attention—even from people beyond our own networks. When asked whether the event lived up to her expectations, Alice Bischof, founder of Kunstraum Heartspace, simply replied: “It was even better.”

Looking ahead, Kunstraum Heartspace will host workshops, exhibitions, and artist residencies. Studio and gallery spaces will also be available for rent. Every last Monday of the month, all artists are invited to take part in the community meet-up.
